Team Profile

FOHOP is governed by a team of 5 Board of trustees  members as follows :

Mrs Laura Thompson Malange is the chairperson with over 18 years experience in NGO management. She is a successful business persons through her two companies which she operates in Malawi. She has a very big passion towards children, girls and women  rights and livelihood . She is an administrator by profession.

 Allexander kampheta is the vice chairperson. He is a  strong human rights activist and well known for defending the rights of all people without discrimination. Has over 20 years’ experience in organisation development. He is an executive Director of Centre for Key Population. Public health  is his profession.

 Precious Mtuwa is young lady who holds the post of Treasure  in the board. She has 6 years’ experience of working in NGO sector and sound knowledge in financial management, business management and journalism.Her excellent presentation and communication skills has enabled her to provide her service to over 10 institutions  in business management. At her young age, she founded Starlight Organisation which she heads.  Is a strong activist for young people. IS a journalist and business manager by profession

 Brenda Nachuma is another young lady in the board of the organisation. She is a strong feminist, a teacher and a facilitator with over 8 years. She focuses on programs development and execution with her passion on child development, young people education,  food security, livelihood and gender based violence programs.

FOHOP secretariat

The secretariat is headed by the Executive director who manages the two arms of the organisation namely; The Program technical arm and The Administration and Financial technical management arm as follows

SHORA KAULUKA- Executive Director and Co-founder

Being inspired by Philip Crosby who said “Information by itself is not knowledge; it requires the addition of experience and consideration,” determination and positive risk taking is his commitment of developing communities at both national and international level. With over 23 years of experience in NGO and project management, he has designed, developed, pioneered, managed and led complex projects in Malawi, Democratic Republic of Congo and Zimbabwe. It is along the way when Shora realized   the actual interpretation of Aldous Huxley quote when he had said “Experience is not what happens to you; it is what you do with what happens to you.” Has been applying the knowledge, wisdom and experience gained from his career to Fountain of Hope work from 2013. Some of the achievements in his career include pioneering donor funded projects  in Malawi  and Democratic Republic of Congo, in areas of food security, Nutrition, Livelihood, youth empowerment, women empowerment, gender based violence, ending child marriages,  family planning, HIV and AIDS, Water Sanitation and hygiene, Effective NGO governance, Climate change and environmental conservation. His professions at different levels include project management,  shipping management, child development, Developing a Strategic Community Plan, Organisational Structure and Training System, Implementation Science, Leadership and management, Policy development and advocacy., Mental health, Economic Evaluation, African Civic Engagement .

 Institutions include Frontline International Institute in Zimbabwe, University of Georgia, Share and Care International Ministries- Netherlands, Aggrey Memorial School- Malawi, . University of Washington and Yesbud University.

Lawrence Munthali ​

Lawrence Munthali being a Co- Founder of Fountain of Hope(FOHOP), is the Director of Partnership and Resource Mobilisation. He has extensive experience in in all areas NGO management and governance. Being a complete leader with over 25 years hands on experience, he has led to the successful donor funds management of the organization since 2013. Lawrence has developed and led the strategy of the organization within the broad context of the local, national and international landscape by using performance measurements to guide strategic and operational decision-making. Has Cultivated a strong partnership with the Board of Directors in setting policies consistent with the mission of the Fountain of Hope (FOHOP) Works. His contribution has enabled the FOHOP to maintain very strong trust with the donors. With his Business Administration profession, has ensured organisation’s effective governance at all level structures.

Chikumbutso Kayira

Chikumbutso Kayira , co-founder, is the Partnership and resource mobilization manager who reports to the director of partnership. Having working in Fundraising projects for 24 years in Malawi and Zimbabwe, his services have seen over 265000 rural community members benefiting. His career strength  is in community development, project management, Sales and marketing, partnership in development and public relations.

Blessings Nembele

Blessings Nembele leads the administration and Financial technical management arm  for the organisation  with her  vast experience in Information technology and Business administration. She has been working for 15 years in the field from both state and non state actors.  She has developed a sound organisation functioning structure at all levels. Her policy development and implementation and monitoring skills has made organisation’s staff and volunteers to understand that they are valued and cared by the organisation. I am matured and self-starter over 11 years in project management and community development  sector. I have over these years demonstrated experience in well-established organizations and companies in Malawi. I am a self-starter and have the ability to meet deadlines, working under pressure with minimum or no supervision.
I have done the course in Hotel Management (front office), Accounting (IBAM Certificate),
customers care (call Centre agent) Business Administration and project management.
Mainly I have vast experience in dealing with social projects aiming at empowering women, girls and youth.
 Business Administration (BBA) is her profession.

KETTIE MIKWALA

KETTIE MIKWALA is a Technical Assistant with specific focus on program development and management, monitoring and evaluation,  Research development, disability mainstreaming programming, child protection programming, combating gender based violence programming, youth and women empowerment programming, staff capacity building, health interventions,  water sanitation and hygiene programing.

Kettie has a proven track record of collaborating with diverse organizations, both local and international, showcasing expertise in project management, data collection, analysis, and proficient report writing. Skillfully served as a Research Assistant, Supervisor, and Independent Consultant, leveraging this extensive background to supervise and coordinate multiple research projects in Malawi. Proven abilities in steering research initiatives and providing valuable insights within the realm of public health. She has formulated and implemented strategies to guide research activities aligned with different institutions goals and objectives and has been providing training and support to researchers and staff on research methodologies, grant writing, and resource mobilization strategies for over 6 years.

 

Kettie has held different positions in different government and non governmental institutions such as program manager, Project Manager, National Researcher,  Junior Investigator, Child Development Officer, Team Supervisor, Elderly Affairs Officer, Special Need Teacher, Trainer of trainers, Monitoring and evaluation officer, Advocacy officer,

 

Chrissie Munthali

Chrissie Munthali is young lady  chartered accountant with  seven years’ experience in financial accounting. She also holds Advanced Diploma ; (ACCA)  Accounting Diploma ; (ICAM).

Fortune Mhango

Fortune Mhango is the coordinator of women empowerment program of the organisation.

Is a very determined result-oriented and detailed-oriented as well as independent critical and analytical thinker with well organized and a team player skills. In her 11 years’ experience in community development and women empowerment  interventions, she has reached out to over 250,000 people. She has worked for both local and international organisations in Malawi.

Fortune has held positions  such as Advocacy manager, Project manager,  gender focal person, project coordinator, Project officer,Field Officer, Research Assistant, community development Facilitator just to mention afew.

 

She has led advocacy of Preventing Gender Based Violence by addressing the root causes and promoting transformation of harmful social norms, has Championed advocacy of promoting an early referral system of violence against women, Fortune has advocated for Promoting women and girls’ decision-making power and inclusion as a way of addressing power imbalances and reduce gender stereotypes, Fought for increasing positive gender roles that ensured women and girls are safe, equal and respected by challenging socio cultural norms that perpetuated violence against women and girls. She has equipped women with income generating initiatives as one way of making women independent.

Bridget Mkomo

Bridget Mkomo is the coordinator of Youth and children empowerment  program . She has 16 years experience in providing community services. Bridget has a great passion towards Youth and children.

Bridget has developed and implemented youth and children centred projects which have reached out to over 30,000  youth and children. Her planning, coordinating and facilitating implementation of capacity building project  has enabled the organisation to achieve her objectives. Through these projects Bridget has empowered young people with knowledge and information on HIV/AIDS and Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) and services, has facilitated young people on  setting goals and visualizing the positive change that would take place if they would start making healthier and safer decisions. Has empowered youth through vocational skills and income generating activities for financial independent, has led the fight of ending child marriages while promoting children access to education. Her profession is Community Development.

Wakisa Mhango

She is a devoted Social Worker who is deeply committed to championing the rights and welfare of individuals and communities in need. With a strong background in social work and a burning passion for social justice, Has  made a meaningful difference in the lives of those facing adversity. Having worked in both governmental and nongovernmental sectors, she possess the expertise to navigate intricate social welfare systems and tackle a range of challenges including poverty, homelessness, domestic violence, and mental health issues. By conducting assessments, devising care plans, and connecting clients with vital resources, I empower individuals to become self sufficient. Wakisa has Coordinated and implemented livelihood, gender equality and protection programs in collaboration with local communities, government agencies, and partner organizations; has conducted comprehensive needs assessments to identify the challenges and vulnerabilities faced by individuals and families in the community, has Developed and implemented tailored intervention plans to address clients’ social, emotional, and economic needs, promoting self sufficiency and well-being. Handled sensitive cases related to sexual and gender-based violence, ensuring a survivor-centered approach and adherence to confidentiality

Anish Shekar

Anish  Shekar is a young energetic Co-Director  with 22 years old. Is an International humanitarian who has a degree in Biology from New York University. He has held key leadership positions  in 3 other large organisations thereby  impacting hundreds of thousands of lives. He also leads Zoteca Health Care Company that works hand in hand with FOHOP in health designed programs. Anish applies a holistic and team based approach when executing his duties.
